ACE recommendations · partner universities

Academic credit

Selected courses carry a credit recommendation from the American Council on Education. ACE says what a course is worth — each institution decides for itself whether to award it.

How ACE credit works

The American Council on Education evaluates coursework taken outside a university — corporate training, military schools, courses like these — and publishes a recommendation: worth so many semester hours, at a given level. That is not a grade or a transcript entry, just an opinion a receiving institution may accept in whole, in part, or not at all.

One note on names. This shop is LearnStatistics, but ACE and every university below list the provider as UpThink, which operates it. Give them that name if you are checking anything.

Read a credit figure here as: what the course is worth if your institution accepts it. Ask them before you buy if it matters to you. We cannot answer for them, and neither can ACE.

Thomas Edison State University awards the degree under a curricular partnership; the specialist data science coursework is what is taught here. The BS is 120 credits in total, of which this coursework is a part.

What TESU publishes about this coursework

  • Courses taken through UpThink are not eligible for federal financial aid.
  • They do not count toward the residency requirement for a degree program at Thomas Edison State University. TESU asks for 15 semester hours earned directly from TESU on the per-credit plan — 24 for military students — however much credit you bring in from elsewhere.

These are TESU’s own statements, not ours, and they apply to TESU only.

Everything else is sold direct, to anybody, no university involved — the ordinary way to take these courses, and nothing about it is second best: same teaching, same instructor, same classroom.

How your result is reported

Most people take these courses direct — no university involved, nothing reported to anybody.

Studying toward a degree at a university above? You are recognized by one thing: the address on your account. Sign in with your university email instead of a personal one — nothing else to do.

When a course finishes, we record the grade and credit hours as they stood that day, and file that record with the university on your account at that moment.

Signed in with a personal address but studying at a partner? Switch to your university email, or tell us and we will add it — best done before you finish, not after.
