A Parameter is a numerical value that describes one of the characteristics of a probability distribution or population. For example, a binomial distribution is completely specified if the number of trials and probability of success are known. Here, the number of trials and the probability of success are two parameters. A normal distribution is completely specified if its mean and standard deviation are known.
